The History of Big Red’s
Jack had been searching for a private label house cigar for 12 years.
The search came to an end at the Retail Tobacco Dealers of America (RTDA) trade show in the summer of 2004 when the right company and the right cigar program came along.
Jack chose to work with the company Oliva and have the cigars handmade in Nicaragua. Jack worked with the blenders on deciding which blends would work best for the store and, together with the customers, they decided on a name. The new cigar was named Big Red after the manager of the store—Mary “Red” Martin—who at that time worked with the design artist from Oliva to come up with the band for the new cigar.
When the project was done we now had 16 new cigars in our private label cigar line:
Four sizes: Robusto, Toro, Torpedo and Churchill.
Each in four blends: Connecticut, Cameroon, Corojo and Maduro.
This premium line of cigars has been on the shelves at Jack’s Tobacco since October 2004 and have since become one of our bestsellers. Oliva is proud to say that this line is one of their best-selling private label cigars as well!
